¿Qué es ES-patriados? / What is ES-patriados?
Un proyecto artístico que nace de la necesidad de dar a conocer las historias, circunstancias y perfiles de todos los españoles que, como nosotras, han emigrado y viven en Dublín actualmente.
ES-patriados es la manera de dar soporte artístico e identidad a cada uno de los españoles que deciden participar en el proyecto, dejando espacio a la libertad de expresión, donde cada uno cuenta su propia historia, las circunstancias y razones personales que le han traído a Irlanda.
An artistic project born from the need to present the stories, circumstances and profiles of all the Spanish who like us, have emigrated and currently live in Dublin.
ES-patriados is a way to give artistic support and identity to all of the Spanish who choose to participate in the project, by giving them an opportunity to express themselves. Through the project each person can share their personal stories, circumstances and reasons that brought them to Ireland.
¿Por qué ES-patriados? / Why ES-patriados?
La palabra ES-patriados es el resultado de unir dos palabras en castellano. El gentilicio español, la: natural de España; y el sustantivo expatriado, da: Que vive fuera de su patria.
Porque no somos un número, tenemos nombre y apellidos, familia, pareja y amigos que hemos dejado atrás.
The word “Espatriado” is the result of joining two different words in Spanish, español: Spanish, from Spain; and expatriado: or ex-pat, someone who lives abroad, outside from their own country.
Because we are not just a number, we have name and surnames, families, partners and friends that we have left behind.
¿Cómo se hace ES-patriados? / How does ES-patriados work?
ES-patriados crece día a día con la ayuda de los participantes que deciden compartir su historia. Los ES-patriados (indiscutibles protagonistas), independientemente de su edad, de su posición social, del tiempo que lleven residiendo en Irlanda, si están trabajando o en paro, si están estudiando…, escriben su historia en una ficha tipo, nos la mandan, la leemos y después de quedar y captar una imagen fotográfica que la historia de cada uno nos inspire, creamos un retrato realista único que más tarde mostraremos en una exposición. Con las fichas de los participantes se hará un fichero que también se mostrará en la exposición.
The core of the “ES-patriados” project is without doubt the Espatriados who decide to cooperate with us to help us bring this social art project forward. The participants, regardless of age, social position, employment status or length of time here, will write their stories and send them to us. The artists will read the stories and later meet with the participants to have their photograph taken. From these photos the artists will then paint a portrait inspired by their stories. These portraits will be displayed in the exhibition along with an archive of all the stories that have been collected. The archive will be on display for visitors to view.
